Frequently asked questions

Here are a selection of frequently asked questions – if you have any other questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Q. Do you supply generic printed samples?
A. Yes.

We can supply A4 Switchscene Printing branded samples for free.

Q. Do you supply print samples from our own images?
A. Yes.

We charge a flat fee of £20.00 inc. delivery plus VAT for samples up to 1 square meter. However, we will discount this from the invoice once the project goes ahead.

Q. What artwork do you require to print wallpaper?
A. Vector files.

We require vector files (files created in vector graphic programs such as Adobe Illustrator or CoralDraw) in EPS, PDF or native Illustrator files (.ai), saved for CC 2014. The advantage of using vector files that are totally generated in these programs is that they will scale to any size without loss of quality. If any pictures (bitmap images) are embedded into the vector artwork they will not scale without image quality loss.

Bitmap files (pictures).

For bitmap images such as Photoshop, our favoured format is a high resolution JPEG (JPG) saved as high quality; we also accept TIFF and PSD files. The more the artwork is enlarged, the more there will be a noticeable loss of quality which should be assessed. We can appraise this without charge. Text incorporated into the artwork usually enlarges without loss of quality if postscript fonts are used.

Files can be transferred via email, Wetransfer and Dropbox.

For pattern-repeat wallpaper, we require the repeat design to match on the top, bottom and sides. Also, we require a 20mm overlap on the right edge. We have a pattern repeat artwork service which costs £49.00 per hour plus VAT. Most patterns can be put into full repeat in about 1-2 hours.

Mural walls require high-resolution images whether they are bitmaps or vectors. We require a bleed of 100 – 150mm on the sides, and an area top and bottom of 50 – 100mm larger than the wall size to which it will be applied.

Q. What is the difference between contract width and SuperSpan wallpaper?
A. There will be a different number of visible seams on the walls.

Contract vinyl is printed in widths of approximately 1300mm wide, so if you are applying to a wall 5 meters wide you should require 4 drops to cover the wall – therefore there will be three joins.

SuperSpan is printed in one piece so there are no seams whatsoever on the face of the wall.

Q. Do you install?
A. We install SuperSpan wallpaper.

We have a team that installs SuperSpan wallpapers. Alternatively, we may be able to refer a contract width installer in your area.

Q. Do you have any vinyl free wallpapers?
A. Yes.

SuperSpan is vinyl-free and we also have a couple of vinyl-free options in contract-width including a Dreamtime substrate that even has 31% recycled wood pulp.

Q. What is the lead-time for delivery of wallpaper?
A. Usually within 5 working days.

We usually deliver within 5 working days from artwork sign-off. If it’s urgent we can usually turn it around more quickly, so contact us.

Q. Can I open a trade account?
A. Only for long term customers.

As we offer the best prices for custom printed wallpaper, we require pre-payment so we don’t generally open trade accounts; we may consider opening a trade account if you work with us on a long-term basis.

Q. Do you take credit cards?
A. Yes.

We take credit and debit cards via Worldpay.
