Case Study

On 3rd November 2016, the London Marriott Hotel County Hall, on London’s South Bank, celebrated its grand re-opening after the completion of a multi-million-pound transformation project led by RPW Design Ltd.

RPW Design Ltd is one of the world’s leading hospitality interior design practices, and through the London Marriott Hotel project they successfully brought the hotel up to date with it’s modern, contemporary interiors, inspired by the heritage and elegance of the building.

In 2014 RPW Design approached wallpaper designer Annette Taylor-Anderson of ATA Design, requesting to use one of her designs for the London Marriott project.

RPW was interested in ‘The Bowler’ wallpaper to fit with their design theme; the bowler hats brought an element of masculinity to reflect the previous use of the property as the headquarters of London County Council and later the Greater London Council.

The design scale, colour, and type of wallpaper was discussed, as RPW wanted to change the colour and design slightly, making it a bespoke piece fitting with their colour scheme.

After extensive discussion and sampling, the design was approved and was ready for printing by Redcow Printing. Approximately 1500 square metres was ordered and delivered on time, and the wallpaper now features in the corridor areas on five floors.
